Description: Dr. Overbeck is a veteran educator who has served children as a middle and high school teacher, a college professor and a school leader. For four decades, he has had the privilege to work with hundreds of talented, dedicated teachers in seven different school districts. He has recently retired as Assistant Superintendent of Xenia Community Schools (Ohio) after leading that district through fourteen consecutive years of academic improvement, moving the district from Academic Emergency in 2000 to a District of Excellence in 2008. His educational expertise and professional knowledge has earned statewide and national recognition including the national “Teacher Leader Award” from the Reading Recovery Council of North America. A speaker in much demand, Dr. Overbeck’s speaking experiences run the gamut from serving as a keynote speaker at a national convention to a panel member at a national literacy institute. An accomplished writer, he has been published in trade journals, professional texts and newspapers. His new novel, Leave No Child Behind, a thriller about a terrorist takeover of a high school in Ohio and the teacher who defeats the terrorists, is published by Heroic Teacher Press and is available at better bookstores and at Amazon.com. His novel has also won a national award, the 2011 Silver Award for Thriller of the Year from ReadersFavorite.com

District 6740 Governor Nominee – Challenges Close 4/26/13

The District 6740 Nominating Committee selected Rotarian Cindy Legg of the Rotary Club of Paintsville, Kentucky as District Governor Nominee designate to serve as District Governor of Rotary District 6740 in Rotary Program Year 2015-16. The committee executed its function on April 13, 2013 and this notice is sent within 36 hours thereof.

Club Officers should announce this selection at their next meeting. Please also forward this notification to the Club’s newsletter or bulletin editor for publication.
Clubs may propose a challenging candidate on behalf of previously suggested candidates. Challenges must be in the form of a resolution by the club that is adopted at a regular meeting. A challenge must be sent to Kathryn Hardman, Governor and received by April 26, 2013.

This correspondence is sent pursuant to Rotary International Bylaw 13.020.6 Notification of Nomination and 13.20.08 Challenging Candidates.
